How this one was made
Herbal tea has a reputation, and it's mostly earned: it tends to taste like something you finish out of duty. We wanted to fix that, and we didn't want to guess our way there. So before we blended anything, we wrote a book.
The book on our shelf
People have been blending herbs around fires and kitchen tables for as long as anyone can remember, and every tradition worked out its own sense of balance. Greek physicians thought in warm and cool, moist and dry. Chinese practice saw two forces trading places, each carrying a seed of the other. Aristotle called the sweet spot between too much and too little a virtue. Different languages, same instinct: a good blend is a balanced one.
We gathered those traditions, along with a shelf of old herbals going back to Culpeper's Complete Herbal of 1653, and wrote them into one working method. We call it the Apothecary's Code. It gives every herb a place and every blend a structure, so when we build a recipe we're following written rules, not a hunch. Pulling centuries of practice into one framework took some genuinely advanced technology, and it's the kind of work our family happens to love.
From the page to the pot
Buckshot & Gunpowder came out of that method, thirteen herbs settled part by part. Gunpowder green carries four parts, rooibos and fenugreek two each, and it steps down from there to a single quarter part of orange peel, just enough to brighten the finish. Every proportion had to earn its place before anything touched a kettle.
Then the rules handed the work back to us. We weighed the herbs out, mixed them by hand, brewed a pot, and tasted it. That's still how every batch leaves our kitchen: measured against the book, judged by a person, packed when it's right.

Every blend we ever sell will trace back to the written Code, line by line and part by part. If it's in the bag, we can show you why it's there and how much of it there is. That's the whole idea: tea you can trust because nothing in it was guessed.
